Private retreat in the Netherlands
A private psilocybin
retreat, held from
start to finish
One to one, in a carefully prepared private setting in the Netherlands, where psilocybin truffles are legal. With psychologist Paul Menze and an experienced female co-facilitator, inside a 12-week programme of screening, preparation and integration.
At a glance
One person,
two facilitators
This is not a group retreat. For three days the whole retreat is shaped around you: the pace, the setting and the conversations. I am present throughout, together with an experienced female co-facilitator.
The retreat is the centre of a longer process. Screening and four preparation sessions come before it, four integration sessions and follow-up support come after it, so that what you experience has a chance to become part of your life.
It is not suitable for everyone, and an honest screening comes before any payment. Read who it is and isn't for.

What people say
Finding someone offering this is difficult anyway, but finding someone better than Paul almost impossible. Never had a better companion.
In the fall of 2009, I had the opportunity to go on an impressive journey with Paul. Because of Paul's professionalism and the setting, it felt very safe.
Paul is an excellent facilitator - calm, focused and very professional.
Questions
Questions people
ask before booking
Is a psilocybin retreat legal in the Netherlands?
Yes. The retreat works with psilocybin truffles, which are legal in the Netherlands. Magic mushrooms were banned there in 2008, but the truffles, a different part of the fungus, were not. Psilocybin is illegal in Germany and most other countries, so never take truffles with you across a border.
How is a private retreat different from a group retreat?
In a group retreat, a few facilitators hold a room full of participants, and preparation and integration are often brief. Here the whole retreat is for one person: you, with me and an experienced female co-facilitator. The pace, the setting and the conversations are shaped around you, and the retreat sits inside twelve weeks of individual preparation and integration.
Who is this not suitable for?
It is not suitable for people with a formal psychiatric diagnosis or anyone currently taking psychiatric medication. Some other medications and health conditions also need careful assessment, which is what the screening session is for. If it is not the right fit, I will tell you honestly, and you pay nothing until after screening. Read the full self-check.
Is this therapy?
No. This is non-clinical coaching by a psychologist and master coach, not psychotherapy or medical treatment. If you are in treatment for a mental health condition, please talk to your therapist or doctor first.
What happens during the retreat?
The retreat takes three days in a private setting in the Netherlands, with accommodation and all meals included. There is time to arrive and settle, the psilocybin session itself with both facilitators present throughout, and time afterwards to rest and begin making sense of the experience before you travel home. We go through the details during preparation, so nothing comes as a surprise.
How should I prepare, and how far ahead should I book?
Preparation is part of the programme: four sessions covering intention, emotional and practical preparation, and what to expect. Because screening and preparation come first, allow several weeks between your discovery call and the retreat date. The first step is a free 25-minute discovery call.
What does it cost, and when do I pay?
The full programme starts at 3,900 EUR and includes screening, four preparation sessions, the retreat with accommodation and all meals, four integration sessions and follow-up support. Only travel to and from the location is not included. You pay only after the screening session, once we are both confident the retreat is right for you.
Why are integration sessions included?
Because much of the value of a psychedelic experience is decided in the weeks afterwards. Insights fade quickly if nothing changes in daily life. The four integration sessions help you make sense of what arose and translate it into concrete changes, with follow-up support while things settle.
I live in Germany. How does this work in practice?
Preparation and integration sessions take place online, in German if you prefer, and you travel to the Netherlands only for the retreat itself. Psilocybin is illegal in Germany, so nothing is taken back across the border.
Is what I share confidential?
Yes. Everything you share during screening, preparation, the retreat and integration is treated confidentially.
